What is Farcaster’s?

bluesky is gaining mindshare because they found PMF with users who want to be surrounded by people who (mostly) agree with them. it’s political affiliation, not vision.

I’m very skeptical they’d be growing as fast as they are if the sales pitch was “bluesky is twitter but more politically left content moderation”

There is rarely a single reason behind any decision someone makes. I’ve been interested in decentralized social since 2017. For people who recognize wealth is power and are tired of signing up for a new social app every couple years, there is deeper ideological interest in bluesky beyond US politics imo.

same thing with users defecting from meta “because of AI” which has become right wing coded

how else do you explain that Bluesky’s user base is overwhelmingly left wing, a group that has never previously expressed much interest in decentralized anything, whether social apps or otherwise?

This is 100% the reason. It’s community mass migration and many are leftist.

People don’t care about the tech it’s all about marketing and Bluesky has been positioned as the “better safe space social network by the original twitter founder”

“Less toxic twitter for deep connections” sounds good.
