As more apps build on Farcaster, the financial incentive to attack the network increases.

But the network struggles as hub count increases. 

Begs the question: how viable is decentralization & censorship resistance over the long term? 🤔

Not trying to spread fud. I’m sure there are stacks of white papers with potential solutions. But I’m curious how the Merkle team is thinking about it.

I probably don't either. 

Mainly wondering:
A) Is Warpcast prioritizing communication with certain hubs?
B) If so, doesn't that degrade UX for apps getting their data from the non-prioritized hubs and potentially fracture the network?

Yes typically censorship resistance scales with the number of nodes in decentralized networks, but it’s my understanding communication between certain hubs is being prioritized (ex: Warpcast <> Neynar) because all the data passing between hubs is creating bottlenecks. I can’t confirm this though. I heard it from @woj.eth

Important question. Can you expand more about the relationship between hub count and decentralization/censorship resistance? 

Do you mean that they'll eventually be forced to rely on a smaller amount of hubs since the network struggles when hubs increase?

Really long term example, but shorting a company using FC data then censoring the network.

The bigger risk might be govs that want to censor content.

you’re scaring me..but honestly this has crossed my mind before as well. there is no playbook to go by, so we will have to learn as we go?
