@cheriehu released the annual State of Data in the Music Industry report — hundreds of respondents across a dozen sectors. sad to see web3 music where it is, but content in this space has both a demand and a supply problem. how do we solve this? we have so many pieces to this puzzle.

If we want to increase supply, we’ve got to build trust. Almost every artist I talk to about crypto is hesitant to even think about learning the space, let alone trust it with ownership/distribution of their work. fascinating that so many of these projects don’t just playback audio. just play music. teams of people spend all this time and money and don’t make it any easier to discover and help listeners connect new music. that’s why artists don’t trust web3. no one is doing that work. why does SoundCloud even still exist?
