Point 7 about the Superfan is why I'm bullish for on-chain music. It just makes sense for there to be a direct two way relationship between artist and fan. Artists who are in it for the long haul - who are prepared to build their audience one fan at a time - and who are able to sustain themselves for longer - are really well positioned to ride this next wave.

I've been thinking the same thing, but wasn't it blockchain guys who helped build vault.fm yet they left the crypto part out? Curious why they decided to not introduce crypto in the mix yet

As an artist, I’m looking forward to Vault .fm — I listened to the podcast with the founder @davidgreenstein breaking down its aims and how it differs from their first project, sound.xyz. Introducing web3 certainly complicated things for my community, so I personally already went back to the drawing board before hearing about Vault; but I’m glad to see the welll intentioned pivot to address the critical challenges we artists face. I’ve wanted to incorporate web3, believe me, however it always seems to fall short of the ideal for my specific scenario so far.

I would bet it has everything to do with adoption rates. I'd been in an incubator with the rivet team https://www.rivet.app/ back in 2020 - I get the founder email every month and everything is about adoption rates and reducing complexity - even with the basic comms: sms, email etc - the interface is challenging - I think if they added crypto in there it would scare even more people away. I don't know about these services - again looking under the hood they're only really gaining traction with indie labels rather than indie artists and I think that's kinda missing the point of the utopian future I'm dreaming about ;-p
