Trying to gauge where people are at with two questions: 1) Have you heard of the term “personal knowledge management”? 2) What software do you use for taking notes?

To me, it’s about these two concepts: the filtration of information and the forging of knowlege over time. Rather than putting energy, time, and attention into notes we never look at again, investing that time & attention into notes that build on one another over time. I actually just migrated all of my notion and Apple notes into obsidian, a markdown editor that I’ve been using for a couple of years. It’s nice to know I don’t have to rely on a cloud system for my notes, since I can have a local, non-proprietary copy in md: Made a video about why I switched too, if you’re interested: Why Obsidian? How do you like my mind? And cool! Happy to answer any questions. Have spent the last couple of years diving into it, and made a playlist on PKM & digital gardening with obsidian: Personally, I’ve found since switching to obsidian my output frequency and quality has improved a lot https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWhMzDKA7vJ7p50vW-oeZgKR2aDReZFW6&si=FMthq4jjB4mzDdyH

I like mymind but when i go back to search or reference it, its not organized in a way that makes it useful. I kinda want to train an LLM agent on everything in mymind then have a chat interface. And i’ll def hit you up if i get around to reorganized my notes/digital garden in the next week or two

Ah I see. Yeah I think that’s a common problem with a lot of systems, in part because most are based on skeuomorphic physical to digital. That’s actually what I’m working towards! Since obsidian is all in markdown, makes it really easy to plug into GitHub or AI fine tuning systems, so I’m working on organizing my notes in a way that will feed well into AI interfacing Sounds good 🫡
