Corollary to this: looking at the returns to scaling LLMs, the rise of AGI will drop the value of human work to near 0. A world with 90+% of humans jobless and desperate, and the inevitable stimulus in the form of UBI, is a powder keg for rampant online gambling

This (extremely off-putting) answer reveals a key thing that's beautiful about markets: They let people express the strength of their preferences without needing to always justify their values in front of a committee. https://twitter.com/DylanMAllman/status/1776649146675712146

Well balanced assessment, good stuff. Whether the mechanism design ends to being sound is an open question for me too, but the traction and network effects that come with it is difficult to ignore

Also agree it’s somewhat pessimistic, we’re compounding a few exponentials here — compute, funding, algorithmic progress, people interested

Interested to hear your thoughts if you’ve read it. I think whether bittensor’s incentive design ultimately wins is still TBD, but it seems directionally onto something

Curious if you’ve taken a look at bittensor, it’s an interesting attempt at creating an incentive structure for open source AI

Why don’t people talk about Moloch more often? Most people seem familiar with the concept and feel it explains a lot of the organizational rot/bad incentive design we see around us, yet it’s not a popular concept people point to - why is that? https://slatestarcodex.com/2014/07/30/meditations-on-moloch/
