But will the messages get deleted after switching?

No. Messages get deleted after they are older than the number of days in the auto-delete setting.

So I'd you select 365 then messages will be deleted after they're a year old. If you select 7 days then messages will be deleted after they're a week old.

and why is the default 30 days? this just makes me want to prioritize tg or twitter dm
