this is making the rounds in all my group chats, tech and non-tech alike. my initial reaction is that i don’t think the AI friend is the root issue. with crisis text line data and social platforms that detect and flag suicidal ideation, idk how character.ai’s system didn’t flag this as an high-risk user.

Being a parent is hard but it's our job to keep kids safe, especially at that age. That's why limiting access to tech is important. Guess what's also important, limiting access to guns.
