I've never been one to build toy/side projects I write ideas down, work through them in my head and do research but rarely actually build them I focus my building time and most of my energy on my work projects (My contract makes it harder to build side stuff anyway) Any tips on how to get into building on the side?

Whatβs your underlying reason for wanting to do side projects?

Several, such as: - To use tech external to Google - To work on ideas that don't fit my day job and Google's priorities/scale - To be closer to the users

I guess best advice is to start small and do a project for the sake of doing it as opposed to caring about the outcome. Treat it like play, not work. I went YEARS btw happily working at a tech company without doing anything external, now I always have something small on the side- many non tech. It gets addicting π€£

There's tech outside Google? π« that's the one that scares me the most. Need to do this more often as well
