- making someone uncomfortable,
- offending someone,
in this day and age with kids is so exhausting.

You want to teach them to validate and respect but also to be strong willed and not be so sensitive (loaded word).

One of the things I recently started to do, which I picked up from an excerpt of Elon Musk’s mom, “you’ll figure it out”.

Feels like it’s worked on small stuff so far. It plays right in the middle of ambiguous, supportive, and cognitive development, and perseverance.

Been struggling with that balance as well. "Listen to adults except when they say/do something wrong" is incredibly hard to communicate.

Another one is "always share ... but you don't have to give something up just because another kid asks for it".
