While I was a VC for 6 years, I spent a lot of time meeting with founders. I saw a LOT of burnout that wasn't always talked about publicly

One takeaway for me going into founding a company was even though the hours are really long, I make sure to never skip taking care of my mental and physical health (or ever feel guilty about it) in order to maintain long term pace. This is what works for me

e.g. no matter how chaotic things get, I make sure to do a daily 15 min walk minimum, take 2-3 fitness classes per week, and make sure every week I'm fitting in some things that make me happy (e.g. seeing family/friends, eating good food, etc). Still working on improving my sleep though

Balance is a skill learnt for more than riding a bike. 

I’ll add to this excellent advice ‘take an extended break now and again’.
