Why is Dragon Ball Z so well-regarded?

It’s a classic. Dragon Ball has been around for nearly 40 years, older than Pokemon! Like Ghibli, it was many people’s intro to anime; it also helped take Shonen mainstream internationally. DBZ was huge on Toonami too, the dub was recorded in TX, and the soundtrack featured Pantera—people were into that.
