sure, never looked at managed aws pricing, but I'm traumatized from managing grafana/Kapacitor/influxdb and ELK stacks in the past so not really interested We're not paying datadog THAT much. I've worked at a company giving them millions of dollars a year though and that probably should have been reevaluated

Interestingly 90% of the aws prom service cost is in # of events ingested. LT storage/retention is almost free. With reasonable cardinality and scrape interval choices, you can have super manageable costs.
