Need a pair of shoes for my first marathon. I've been running/training on barefoots (Atreyu). Is really the Vaporfly 3 as good as its pricetag?

i’d check out r/RunningShoeGeeks. i’d disagree with others that carbon plated is a no go for first timers. you just need to put in some miles at MP before race day and make sure they work for you

that said, going from barefoots to huge stack heights of the VF3 or any other modern super shoe may be the larger issue

i trained in peg 39’s, and tried out the adios pro 3’s and vapor fly 3’s. both adidas and nike have generous return policies for their super shoes (at least in the US). for me, VF3’s won, the upper in the AP3’s were not agreeable to my feet

I had been a peg runner for a long time (36 and 37s), good shoes! I am indeed thinking of using VF3 and possibly returning them. I like my no cushion Atreyus!
