Agree that the auto follow is a solid feature at a base level, would love to see it adjusted though and as @diid suggested it could be cool to add channels too based on similar relevancy and activity metrics

Co sign. I was definitely put off to discover I was automatically following a bunch of accounts. Realized belatedly that it was my punishment for selecting an interest “Ethereum” at sign up. Bright side is it’s been useful to get my sea legs. Once I do will mass unfollow most of them prolly.

Open to jump starting my following with high signal accounts but want them to feel both relevant (to me) and timely 

Wouldn’t it be dope if your favourite artist came here and speed ran to 10K bc they used the product?

This is my first time hearing of autofollows to begin with, just unfollowed everyone. This can’t be good for anyone, right? There’s 100 different ways to tackle this.

I get if there's pressures from investors/early adopters/notable figures but it seems longterm -EV to WC

This form of "reward" to early users feels almost entirely at odds with the FC vibe once you get to know it.

Absolutely a great idea. My wife signed up a few days ago, looked at the list of users she was auto-following and said "it's all dudes". 

I think seeding follows in a smarter way (either dynamically as above or maybe via channel or topic affinity) would be great.

this is an awesome solution! yeah spending my first minutes on farcaster unfollowing a bunch of randoms was pretty lame

Yeah kind of weird I followed so many people even when new

No wonder my follow and followers count is so erratic while my engagement is literally 0

I was extremely put off by it, and it took a while to unfollow each one manually. It looks like it counts against your 2500 follower history ( a number I will probably never reach, but still annoying since I personally didn’t add them)

it auto follows all employees and top casters...very cringe.

This is an excellent proposition ! This app will thrive by correlating new users with their niche passions.
