Ha, I watched this video this morning too. I’m starting to get it actually. I’m tempted to even print off and read Scott Marins 40 page handbook.

My fav part was the conclusion at the end: so yea, that kinda sounds coherent... except all the other things which completely contradict it (threats of annexing etc)

The problem is this isn't the only thing Trump is trying to do at the same time, getting the rest of the west to increase its own defenses, stopping fetanyl trafficking over the border, getting rid of rogue agents in the FBI/CIA, reducing the size of the government, and like 2-3 other things are all happening at the same time Some argue that it's too much at once, and they are bleeding into each other in harmful ways (what you mentioned is evidence of that), but only time can tell what's really gonna work out in the end

I agree that we can attribute incoherence to separate teams with separate interests, but I don't know if that's the best explanation. The fentanyl thing is obviously a workaround for the NAFTA/USMCA escape clause for national security issues. Not that fentanyl is not an issue, but I honestly don't think it's something the Trump administration really cares about and demanding border security that was already approved months earlier is not in the top 10 things someone who seriously cares about fentanyl should be doing. I also don't buy that that they really want other countries improving their own defenses for their own sake. I buy that they want more military purchases/payments for service to the US, but it's not looking like it's going that direction.
