nouns-protocol round was originally advertised as 1 ETH but got lowered to .3 ETH after the round closed.

This is pretty upsetting and feels like it completely misses the spirit of rounds. Incentives don't work if you aren't good on your promise

Hey @frog and everyone else who participated

We had a high intention for this round 
Ended up not having enough time to dedicate to it
We feel like there wasn't enough depth to merit the original reward
Prefer to save the ETH for future rounds when we can be more on it

Rounds fails as a product if the round creator can decide if they’re satisfied or not and only partially hold their side of the agreement. 

I understand that you are busy but this could have been communicated at any time during the round. 

As a protocol guy I’m sure you can appreciate how this feels like a total cop out and the very sort of abuse of power crypto is supposed to be solving for

Protocol is meant to emphasize that it’s not right to reneg on an agreement. In this case, you agreed to pay participants of the protocol channel 1 ETH. Your opinion that the participation was not what you’d like is not really relevant here.

It’d be like nouns deciding they’re only going to pay you 30% of your salary bc they were busy and didn’t get a chance to review your work and didn’t think it was up to spec. 

Luckily for you, the protocol protects your interest and you get paid to the agreed terms.

In this case, since it wasn’t a contract, you were able to abuse your power as the round creator and withhold paying to the originally agreed upon terms.

Not speaking for rounds, just my opinion:

It's totally fine to iterate on a product and within it on kinds of rounds with looser expectations than a strict protocol

I don't see why it must be protocol level strictness so early in the game
