can someone hit me with a concrete example of a situation in which a token holder would be held liable in a way that would be damaging? imo the only potential appeal of duna is if there is a real, tangible risk to owning a noun because of the threat of legal liability. but as someone with basically no law experience I don't know what types of situations might exist where token holders could be held liable. if there are none, or if the likelihood of these situations are extremely small, then I don't think it's worth taking on the downsides of DUNA, and the pros feel more like fantasyland whatifs

I guess an example would be…. If someone slips and falls at @87bones Deli …. But that person would take up legal action against the Deli itself where they fell (sorry Bones, but your the only irl example of a physical location at the moment) … but I guess the thought is Bones could then try to sue the DAO? Or that person tries to sue the DAO directly? Which still wouldn’t make sense, no one sues BofA for financing a car if there’s a crash 🤦🏼♀️ Or maybe an example would be where we fund parts of @supriyo.eth movie and the next prop hypothetically gets defeated so he sues the DAO to pay for the completion of the film 🎥 …. Again veryyyyyy unlikely. It seems like very far fetched hypotheticals…. But also, they would sue the Foundation not the members. Imagine a whole investigation ensues to find the ID of wallet address 0x69420 to serve them papers to find out they live in Dubai & you can’t sue them anyways 😂 we’re scared of the Boogyman under our beds that doesn’t exist.

still a fair amount of legalese but a decent overview of the border happenings impacting the decision: https://www.reuters.com/legal/legalindustry/digital-assets-daos-new-theories-liability-2024-06-10/

some people find auto insurance mandates onerous but many would opt in regardless. I guess it’s unclear to me if you’re questioning whether Nouns itself could incur meaningful liabilities or just whether those liabilities could be passed through to token holders?
