Did you ever figure out tax implications? I’m curious about this too. Not much publicized from OP team for some reason

I tried to reach out to compliance but haven’t heard anything. I’m thinking of turning down my grant as well if I don’t get clarity here. I did get KYCd though. Maybe you didn’t if you only requested growth grant?

interesting. maybe they are re-using my KYC from the WLTA prize i won. fwiw i dont think they will answer that question for you, i think they have to say to speak to an accountant, they cant advise on your tax issues? but idek the mechanics - do they actually send the tokens and you agree to just not touch for a year?

Ya I figured the advice would be speak to a professional. The explainer https://gov.optimism.io/t/grant-token-lock-explainer/5060 is not very helpful either. It says gov token helps limit legal liability but I'm not sure how. Maybe it's not considered income until you sell?

it also says token is not intended to be used to fund the cost of the project, but that seems like they're just covering their asses. Obviously they must expect that people sell the tokens to fund operations
