Artists who are labelling their AI art as <generative> on Rodeo aren’t doing themselves any favours. Those pieces show up as the lowest ranked. They’d be more successful labelled as <AI>. Just sayin’.

Some people have tried to come up with other names than generative art, but the fact is that it has been used for a long time to mean a certain thing. Just because the tools of AI artists are sometimes called “generative AI” (especially in the case of GANs, where the G stands for generative), some AI artists choose to try to hide the “AI” part by piggybacking off of an existing type of art. It’s satisfying to no one, really. IMO, if you make AI art well (you know how to use your tools to express your artistic vision) you shouldn’t be ashamed of that and try to hide it. Embrace it, or don’t do it at all! 

While I don’t know about collectors I know that many artists accept the use of multiple tools in their workflows, for example using AI and then code or vice versa. The perception of low-effort is now more associated with the art itself rather than the tools that were used. Not everyone is there yet but I think they will have to be, eventually.

I've been wondering about that! 🤣 

They need a better term for the kind of art that is made by JS/code than "generative art" since a lot of people don't like the idea of AI art, either.

But I'm sure those artists just don't want the stigma of "AI art". So many people assume if it is made with AI then it's low effort and easy. But just like any other tool, some people put a lot more time and effort into it than others, and it shows.

I think that people are finally getting more savvy to the fact that artists are good or not so good at using their tools to make something regardless of the tools they use, especially AI.
