Growing up, we NEVER had spare batteries because they were too expensive. We would hot-swap, mix and match batteries from TV remotes clocks, radios, toys, etc, wherever they were most needed. You wouldn't believe how much you can squeeze a battery before it's really, truly dead. To this day, I beam with pride when I see my drawer full of pristine AA/AAAs, nine-volts, button-cells, you name it, all sealed and ready to go!
So when my baby daughter's songbooks ran out of batteries, I was like, what do you need? 9 LR1130s? Fuck yeah, I have SIXTY-FOUR spares in this drawer alone, and I can have a hundred more by tomorrow afternoon. IN THIS HOUSE WE ALWAYS HAVE BATTERIES!!! 4 replies
