Updated stats on global manufacturing output. There is a lot to say about this but I think its important to focus on the growth of India, which has now surpassed South Korea as a manufacturing hub. While the aggregate size of Indian manufacturing still looks small this is a magnitudes increase from years past when it was a negligible contributor to global markets. More investments are planned in future and if trends continue I would not be shocked to see India emerge as a top 3 manufacturer within the next two decades as its economy grows to a level more commensurate with its demographic weight. India has become the beneficiary of the liberalization policies of the post-Cold War era by opening up its markets to free competition. This is not to downplay the challenges and problems that still exist but its just a fact that this growth is a positive change. Especially as the world attempts (successfully or not remains to be seen) to reshore manufacturing away from China, Indian companies could stand to benefit.
