a habit don't stick in 21 days - it's just a marketing ploy.

the process can take from 18 to 250 days.
the average is now considered to be 66 days or 66 repetitions.

so far i have only written short articles 3 times. but i hope my saturday reflection will not stop, but will only become more frequent.

here’s my thesis: now more than ever, people don’t want to be satisfied with the status quo. they feel something stirring and it’s up to you to make it click. you do this with taste — taste in product, taste in experiences, taste in writing. fuck optimizing. the core matters most.

look around you. observe. connect the dots. there’s many ways to connect the dots. then go build something that calls you.

the meme maker, the gamer, the indie dev. in a constantly shifting world, you need to find pockets where information flows faster. attention is tied to information.

it’s a web3 mschf. more than any drop, mschf is an ethos. i want to storytell. i want to challenge. i want to experience. i want to build. build lots of things — small things, big things, weird things, cool things. maybe they’ll matter, maybe they won’t. but i trust my taste. and its constant evolution

being new to something is a blessing. when this stagnates, reinvent yourself.

i feel like a kid again.

This cast by @jessepollak about long term building made me think about the next few paragraphs after the cast. Especially thinking about new people coming to Farcaster--what does it look like?

I would say find your home & your people in web3. Early in 2022, I found a project that was doing something thoughtful--preserving memories on the blockchain. For 6 months, it was a crash course in a meaningful web3 project. That experience prepared me for a longer home in Nouns where I really saw & participated in what web3 can do. In May of 2024, I made Farcaster my home. 

As you might expect, finding your home is a lot like life--you move around, have different seasons, & change a bit. You bring things w/ you from each place you've lived. You have close friends at each stop--some stay in your life as you move on & some drop off.

But if we are going to do what jesse suggests, we need this kind of perspective for our journey. 

So, where is your home?

This week was a busy one, and I couldn’t focus much on what I wanted to write about.

But a commitment is a commitment, so I’ve decided to write about something peculiar about me:

I’m a big dog person – so much so that sometimes I feel like I can really talk to them. I am a self-certified dog whisperer. If I see a dog, I’m definitely saying hi, just like I would to a human (if you see a crazy lady doing this, you know it’s me!). In my experience, dogs understand and often react by wagging their cute tails. Sometimes, I won’t even notice the person standing next to the dog. I don’t have a dog of my own, but that’s one of the reasons I love it in the US – people have pets here and can take them anywhere, as most places allow them. I think it’s one of the most pet-friendly countries I’ve been to.
