The last few weeks have been a complete sensory overload—too much of a good thing can wear you out just as fast as the bad. Travels, holidays, excitement—it’s been non-stop. As much as I try to resist the stable, “boring” routine, I have to admit it’s exactly what I need to feel grounded and recharged. Right now, I feel like a kid who’s had way too much sugar and just desperately needs to sleep. 2025 is already shaping up to be a busy year—exciting, but busy. I really need to get a solid work-life balance in place before I find myself flailing and directionless taken by a chaos. It’s time to set myself up for the year ahead before it runs away with me. What are your grounding practices? How do you stay captain of your life without compromising too much on spontaneity? Portrait of a Widow 2024 I South Africa

To ground myself, I rely on small rituals: a quiet morning coffee, a tidy space, movement to clear my mind, and mindful pauses during travels. I also create plans that clarify my thoughts and help me focus on my priorities. This year, I aim to balance structure with spontaneity—to steer my life with intention while leaving space for the unexpected.
