Anyone else have the oddly specific masculine fantasy to chop up fire wood with an axe to keep the family warm?

I know a lot about grain patterns and axe technique in case the opportunity arises.

In some regards it’s an activity I miss.

We have a gas stove so don’t do much chopping, and forced air…

Though tbh when I lived where we only used wood heat, getting well seasoned and chopped wood delivered was generally a good expense.

Just left the stacking and minimal splitting as a simple chore.
