another observation:

i’m driven by a desire to understand, so i often questioned hype openly

over time i saw what i consider intellectual honesty labeled as negativity, esp by people who would benefit from blind hype, so i stopped asking publicly

but asking why or how isn’t negative, it’s how we get better

I once read a book by a Polish anthropologist on how to study a culture you have to live amongst the people.

I wanted to apply these ideas in the field, so I convinced a Rabbi in Chicago to let me study amongst those becoming Rabbis.

Learned a lot, but honestly less exciting than I imagined.
