I’ve finally caught up on all the new stuff cooking for the ETH protocol.

It took all of 5min to be convinced based rollups are the most natural way forward for eth. 

At the same time based rollups would kill a lot of the defensibility of Rollups. 

This cycle imo will be the VC narrative vs the protocol narrative

Based rollups use the eth validator set to sequence L2 blocks.

So you first have to get eth validators to agree to also secure based rollups

Why not use based rollups until the tech is ready, then upgrade?

Based rollups are a great idea! But I think rollups in general do a lot of experimentation in how we approach blockspace, monitization, security. 

I’d class based rollups, for now, as another such experiment. Would love for it to work out and eventually be the dominant scaling paradigm!
