The main feature of Chainlink that keeps it going is outsourcing risk.

They charge insane fees (value extractive). The question is why wouldn’t big DeFi protocols internalize that functionality to capture more value?

It’s because of the risks in sourcing off chain data. Easier to let a specialized “protocol”
