Me: "Hi, I make Generative Art" Everyone: "Cool, me too, look what I made with Midjourney" So that's why I've been using the term Algorithmic Art for code-driven Generative Art lately, as opposed to AI-assisted Generative Art. Important topic and great article! In some ways it's not too late to rebrand what we're doing here, if enough artists agree on a new term. I've used "code-based art" when talking with people that are not in the space. This conveys the essence and is easy to grasp, I think. "Algorithmic art" is more precise though.

I understand the feeling, but if you change the name they win. Generative art itβs not AI art. They are the ones that should change the name
