❓Cryptoart Question of the Week ❓ There’s so much about the art community that goes unnoticed or misunderstood by those outside of it. What’s one thing you wish more people understood about the art community? And how can we better spread that message?

Speaking as a small time collector, the big diff between web2 and web3 art for me is ease of communication with the artists. They know when they make a sale and can often, tho not always, track down the buyer on social media to thank them. As a collector, I can respond, converse, get to know them and in some small way also help promote their work. It seems like that would be worth advertising to artists not already in web3 but all I ever hear about is how you can sell NFTs instead of prints.

There is a connectedness that is unique to web3, but i'm not sure that it's communication (which seems like a Web2 holdover). I think the added layer of being able to see what your collectors are into by looking at their wallets adds a unique layer that wasn't available before. And if you and your collectors are into similar projects (outside of your own), then that's another avenue for creating connection with a collector.
