self-censoring for fear of shadow bans in order to maintain monetization and views feels weird to me. we should say "suicide" instead of "unalived," and call it "sexual assault," not "SAed." these softened terms dilute the weight of serious events, turning them into sanitized words that strip away their impact.

yes AND i do feel this habit has added some value — by removing some barriers that come with the heaviness of certain terms, the conversation can be more open. a victim may be able to say “SAed” first. that said, if one intends to speak about a topic, gravity included, one shouldn’t need to self-sensor
