at the end of his /farcon-nyc talk @fredwilson.eth mentioned that USV and his partner Brad have been looking for 15+ years to invest in a company that builds a personal, self-sovereign data store — and I froze when I heard that because funny enough that’s the exact idea/area of interest that got me into crypto in high school decided to take a few minutes to talk about why this is so important to me, what I see the practical use case/problem to solve here is, and how I’m going to keep pushing these ideas forward

same this is one of the most interesting areas of research for me personal compute to me means sovereign datastore + ownership of the computer there was this company called helm that died but it built a personal email server, hardware you had to buy. i thought that was super cool i imagine something like backing up your whole mac/phone but instead it's all these other products that capture pieces of your life, and the ability to make that datastore plug & play
