i’m a 721 maxi but we’re looking at moving our editions over to 1155s as either a creator or NFT collector, why are 1155s a better choice?

A couple of reasons I’ve chosen 1155s for editions: 1155s provide equality of ownership — no token numbering system or title numbering system to sway price/preference. Some marketplaces flood 721 editions on artist profile pages — looks bad and misses the point of one artwork for many.

creators should have the option to drop however they want. Not be limited to only one option because a platform decides that’s easier for them.

With all points already noted by others, that I agree with most; I believe the 721 is only worthy on legit L1s ( I have only Bitcoin(inscriptions) & Ethereum in Mind).

From my understanding 1155s were created to help lower distribution costs on ETH L1 for a lot of gaming NFTs and then used by some artists and projects for lower priced open editions. The UX as a collector is pretty bad and the onchain metadata is a bit wonky when compared to the clarity of ownership on 721s.

As a collector, if I own more than one, 721s feel like something is broken. I like seeing quantity for a token. And secondary market is also so much cleaner for editions with 1155

I'm a 721 maxi too, but normies (majority) won't even care what 721 and 1155 is, as long as it's theirs, everything's good

1155 creates a mini marketplace inside the token providing better liquidity for buyers and sellers. It also provides a better display and analytics. Def a better choice
