should i get a nice (non-luxury) car or another crappy car if i don’t like driving but need a new car

maybe i wouldn’t mind driving more with a nicer car?

You have to be a bit more descriptive around what you mean by a nice car and a crappy one. With that being said I'd say a Japan-manufactured car that is certified used and is around 3-4 years old is generally a good idea. If you are driving long hours due to a commute, I don't think there are any cars that would just improve the experience and make you want to drive more. Unless maybe a self-driving car on highways.

as-is i probably drive, generously, 10 mi/week

but looking to move to la so probably will have to drive to many more things (events, friends, etc)

how far are you normally driving? nicer cars are great for long drives but if it’s just around town I’d just minimize cost personally
