Not nonsense at all. They already have DNS verification which makes them smarter than Warpcast from an institutional perspective. This move, as they outline themselves, helps organizations verify their own members. The checks show exactly who the verifier is and longer term anyone will be able to submit attestation. The combination of DNS verification for orgs and org verification for employees is pretty much a flawless execution of limited trust and transparency.

hah! yes, interesting point. on the spectrum of decentralized to centralized, where “sufficiently” decentralized falls somewhere in the middle, how would you rank and then contrast the two approaches?

at the same time, decentralization inherently breeds interesting comparisons for the fun of it (not commenting on usefulness of the comparison). For instance, both groups have similar-ish end goals, but the process by which we reach eventual consistency (even when building processes) is fun to explore. I see this comparison kind of like comparing between Raft vs Paxos consensus algos — a theoretical exploration and critique that possibly has something to learn from, but might not!

where there are a lot of things to learn is at the level of ux. how the bsky crew have sought to improve the experience is much more interesting
