marketing is just one way to like understand how your product fits in someone's life. It's the word that is the problem - user empathy / research /storytelling is a subset of marketing. Marketing to most folks is about selling stuff rather than sharing a story &being open to feedback - hence the afterthought

Well said. Marketing the product is always the least enjoyable part of the development cycle for me and I can always find « one more feature » that needs to be built before I go to market. It’s a helpful psy op to sometimes convince myself I already built the feature. Then I catch up once it’s sold.
