“What are you doing to help small accounts on Farcaster?” We have a lot more work to do, but here’s what we’ve done in the last few months to improve: 1. Moved initial feeds away from a follow-based model to algorithmic and interest-based model 2. A daily set of boosted accounts with <10K followers 3. USDC rewards normalized by followers 4. A bunch of experiments and tweaks to improve the home feed to show interesting casts from people you don’t follow yet More to come!

Growing a small account is not easy anywhere. Period. I’d argue it’s easier to grow on Farcaster than on X or IG or any other platform. Keep showing up and be active.

Yup I have grown my follower account on this platform to twice what I have on X in half the time Power badge was a huge help of course

Imagine all those who don’t have PB. Honestly, it should disappear forever from anywhere on Farcaster, not just on Warpcast.

I understand the common complaint from many of our peers that without PB they feel invisible here I know I wouldn't have grown my account like this without it That said, I do think many of our peers need to evolve from a mindset of broadcasting their art (social media) to more genuine value-added engagement on the platform (social networking) The things I learned from our peers when I first joined the space on X like posting my art in group chats to try to amplify one another, responding to shill threads, etc, didn't seem to work for me there and don't seem to work here, either While I'm not selling art through my presence here (only an extremely lucky few prominent artists seem to be selling art anywhere), at least I don't feel invisible this way I hope you see what I mean

I partially understand what you're saying, but only those of us without PB can truly understand how we feel. Everyone will only get it when we're all on equal footing. I keep saying that it doesn't depend on the content of the casts but on whether you have PB or not. For example (and this is just an example), my casts get more engagement—more replies, likes, and views—than most of yours, and yet, you have PB and I don’t. I sincerely wish someone would explain this to me. Truly. I've been here since early February. At first, I had PB for several weeks, and during that time, I gained around 1,600 followers. Then I went on vacation and lost PB. Since then, my follower count has stopped growing. I was stuck like that for months. A few weeks ago, I got PB again, and the followers I gained from 1,600 to where I am now were all during that week. Then I lost PB again, and now I’m stuck once more.

You're right - I will never understand what it felt like to be here as an artist without a PB because I had one That said, when I share my art, it gets almost no traction Sharing art in that broadcast formula seems not to be interesting to most users of the platform - I can't blame them for that So, I share a piece of experimental art every day so that when people browse my profile they see the evolution of my artistic practice I've given up on sales for now, which I have the luxury of being able to do because I have a day job that pays the bills Instead, I focus on things that I can try to grow, what few things here I can control

If the option is the toxic cesspool of hate that X has become, I'll stay here 🤷‍♂️

Yes, my closest friends are here, but on X, you'll find collectors, art exhibitions, and all the opportunities that come with them. For an artist, being here isn’t very helpful, it's mainly just to stay in touch with friends. And I don't think collectors will enter here someday

I'm happy for those lucky few who find those things with sustainable regularity on X My experience has been that it's even harder to gain traction there than here The numbers gauntlet of open calls for exhibitions etc mean's that most of those opportunity posts on X are better for the poster's engagement, be it a prominent Web3 gallery or whatever, than for most people who respond And most collecting I've seen seems to me to be either focused on blue chip names, or based on relationships that people have built, either with established collectors they've come to know over the years, or simply fellow artists supporting each other (which is awesome) But for me, that's largely a toxic rat race that I'm not interesting in running Again, to me, it's the difference between a short term sales focused mindset versus a longer term one based on building what I can in a space that seems to have a future At least here, I'm not surrounded by hate on a platform owned by a man who seems to want hate to thrive there

I completely agree with the last part of your message. A lot of us can’t stand Elon, and there have been times I wished the NFT and art space had centered around a different platform. But that’s not how things turned out. I’ll say it again—it’s been easier for you to gain traction here because you have PB, but would you think the same if, from the beginning, you had felt like you were in the shadows? I wish this platform a long life, but honestly, I don’t see it lasting.

Probably not It's not my reality, though, and I focus on the things I can control and where I can have the greatest impact with my limited bandwidth

I also focus on what I can control, which is basically... nothing. Thank you so much for having this conversation with me. I really value it. By the way, if you're on X, I’d love to follow you there too, just in case this ever disappears.
