gm frens! rain 2000 $degen Continuing on yesterday's chat re: allowances, OpenRank, and Staking Lot of great points made - but one thing I'd kindly ask others not to do; pls do not tag jacek or wake (note how I'm not @'ing them) just to.. uh, throw abuse at them. It's extremely uncool, and un-degen. And majorly un-frenlike. Experimentation towards the allowance mechanics - yes they can be frustrating (I had 5 degen allowance one szn), but this experimentation and play MUST happen. The alternative is stagnation/going to zero. If you were a big recipient of tips prior but insta-sold them/don't want to stake any, being honest - that's on you. You picked a cash payout over rolling into an allowance; nothing wrong with that at all, but hodl mechanics/rewards exist for a reason. Skin in the game trumps all. I want to see a system where new and influential users can still build up good allowances via OpenRank, but skin in the game should still be a massive factor imo. Incentive to hodl/stake is v important.

The main problem with this season is the locking prevents experimentation with mechanics. All that money and the disparity between the whales and minnows is locked in now and not just for a 1 month season but 3 months. Any changes to make things more equitable will have to ignore the reality of how it's locked in now.

Yep, that's another side of it - 3 month lockup for a 1 month szn, so the mechanics may well change against stakers after the point of lock-in, which wouldn't be ideal. Hope it doesn't - I think skin in the game is extremely important overall tbh, and swapping the priorities AFTER a lock-in happens isn't the nicest thing to see happen.

I can imagine the staked Degen still playing a part in the following seasons, albeit to a lesser extend.

I hope the terms DO change because right now it doesn’t benefit anyone. The whales have overstaked and eaten up allowance percentage that the minnows desperately need, while also hurting themselves by locking up money they could have used for more profitable investments in 3 months for no benefit to them in this pool. The only way to make it better is if the allowance algo changes and it will have to ignore or minimize some of the disparity to make it better. It’s not ideal for anyone as it stands.
