I suspect people who say they hate running should try walking for several months before trying running. Unless you're either aerobically gifted or already in good shape, any running speed will spike your heart rate uncomfortably high.

For most people zone 2 effort is probably a run-walk combo Doing that most days, plus 1-2 intense intervals a week (of whatever cardio) is probably good for most people
