Notable vanilla soft serve in NYC: - Ray's Candy Store (East Village) - Softside (Nolita and Greenpoint) - Ralph's (East Village) - Soft Swerve (many locations) - the Solato machine (22 Vanderbilt) - Mr. Frostee (trucks) - New York Ice Cream (trucks) Not in order, I've tried all of these. Love soft serve.

Ray's is an 8/10 in absolute terms but a 9/10 for soft serve enjoyers. They use Panza's soft serve mix and Bosco's chocolate syrup, which are increasingly rare iconic ingredients that make it one of the last authentic representatives of the classic NYC vanilla cone. It's been a while since I had Ralph's, though!
