Is this how the world ends? Not with a bang but a whimper. https://hilariusbookbinder.substack.com/p/the-average-college-student-today

This is just so depressing to read. I know it’s true and I know it’s basically everything. I’m 24; this is the generation I will live with. This bit in particular hit me, because it’s EXACTLY how I feel sometimes when I go on dates, have the joy of being presented an interesting topic, and I get the cliche talking points back.

No need to apologize. By checking out of life, they’re removing themselves from the field—which should at least leave you with more opportunities to pursue—but the interpersonal side of it must still suck. The downside of the internet is that it turns people into passive consumers. The upside is that it gives you a wider reach to find your true tribe. I’ve been reflecting a lot on agency lately. Social media tends to strip it away—but it’s something we can reclaim, if we choose to. Fortunately, it seems you’ve already made that choice for yourself.
