zuck doesn't seem to be a big fan of the vision pro -- thoughts on his takes about the differences? i haven't used any quest headsets before so i can't say too much, but i do think the price point and some other features like xbox gaming are pretty compelling still love the AVP though!!

The best outcome is Zuck vs Apple is wildly competitive and VR/MR accelerates rapidly. Looking more likely. It's great he embraced the competition directly as well as admitting things like eye tracking where the Quest is behind. I expect the next Quest to be awesome now.

i respect him doing this so explicitly, but as someone who has used neither i can't really trust the take of an obviously biased person. from what i've consumed it seems people are genuinely more excited about avp than quest so i defer to that aggregate perspective

funny no mention of using it on an airplane ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿคญ shit sucks, itโ€™s a toy, bottom line, heโ€™s trying to compare his toy to a computer

I think he is heavily discounting the added value of both the better resolution and the eye tracking. Fwiw I have the quest 2 not 3, but Iโ€™d say AVP overall experience was leaps and bounds better (at least the in store demo). Kudos to the open ecosystem, but Apple is just so damn good.

they practiced this marketing jargon 6 times before recording. if he wasnโ€™t afraid of the competition then he wouldnโ€™t even be addressing it.

I haven't used either but I wouldn't bet against anything Zuck does

You can do everything with the quest 3 that you can with Apple Vision Pro, you cannot do the opposite. Thatโ€™s why quest wins, if Apple were to open their device like meta did with quest then they would be up for a fight, but seeing how Apple is closed with their products I donโ€™t think that will happen ever

Regardless of its quality, the Vision Pro's price, tight App Store control and dismissal of VR games makes the Meta Quest a stronger contender in my book.

AVP buzz helped people realize that quest might be better for them - cheaper, lighter and more things to do.

The community and playing games with friends aspect of the quest put them in totally different categories I think

In terms of product, AVP is definitely way better. I have used Quest 2 (not sure how Quest 3 compares, but the display alone makes AVP way better) I am intrigued by the open vs closed debate. Yes, Apple is closed. But is Meta open like they claim? Will they remain open when it matters? I am not sure.

The number of things you can do with AVP (that you cannot do otherwise) is quite limited at the moment. If that improves (like with the iPhone AppStore), then AVP will have the advantage.
