Contrarian take on Apple talking to Google and others for AI. Original iPhone launched with a dedicated Google Maps app. Apple learned how it was used and built their own app. Would imagine they will do the same thing with AI. Get paid like they do for search, but then use usage data to carve off over time.

their software has been historically pretty bad. - imessage. unusable compared to whatsapp. - calendar? ok at best. zero innovation. - notes. decent for keeping record of kids shoe sizes. probably their best product though. - reminders? painful. - freeform? did anyone even use that? - keynote, pages, numbers 😱

MVP software is the OS Also iMessage ("blue bubble") is a huge competitive advantage in the US (where the $$$ is).

Blue bubble here. We're definitely pigeon holed into the iPhone here in the States. The initial move was a bit annoying because you have to turn off some extra stuff by going into settings so you get messages. Apple's become too closed for me. I wonder if others will start moving away.
