Should we experiment with a channel lead for this Nouns channel? A few qualified accounts applied; also received private feedback feels too centralized. Our goal is to iterate for the next 6 weeks and if the channel lead concept works, work to decentralize it. https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0x1a5e47

Given the migration away from a centralized Discord, realize people might be especially sensitive to a role like this. Leads are more about routing content that's relevant into channels than moderation (although with permissionless sign ups for Farcaster on the horizon, might need lightweight tools for that).

What if you added some other interactions on channel posts, like signaling as off-topic? That way, with just a few reactions, it would be possible to filter out off-topic casts. You wouldn't even have to censor them...just include a default channel filter that tunes out the noise based on that off-topic

I echo others in that I find the non-moderation (and capture resistance that comes with it) a core feature of farcaster (and twitter for that matter) and it would likely do more harm in making this channel a less legitimate space (since it's less credibly neutral) than good.

I would avoid it for the DAO channels for now tbh. Purple, Nouns, etc. Too much risk of the lead using the influence to sway proposals tied to a financial outcome.

I worry about capture here honestly. If reddit is anything to go by, most subs i frequent are led by people who should absolutely not be leads. This seems especially risky for nouns where there is already known political factions and monetary incentives to increase your influence.

I think the DAOs don’t need channel leads. They either have internal leaders or are sufficiently decentralized.

Side question.. Are you still open to starting new channels?
