Automod originally used unstable internal APIs. Seeing it work influenced the evolution of channels, and mod bots became a first class part of the spec.

We hadn’t even considered Automod as a category of Farcaster client. 

@jtgi didn’t wait for an FIP or public APIs. He just built something useful and people were willing to jump through some hoops to use it.

Made us want to design channels around this new category of client.

As someone who relied heavily on it to keep 98% of posts in my channels main feed since again I rely on no-code solutions to help artists be visible and thrive what are the options going to be other than personally handing out invites to the channel. That and when it comes to our own “channels” where we do want engagements under the posts but not allow folxs to post in it what should we do?

Hey all, I’ve decided to sunset automod.

Channels are changing and Automod needs to adapt to work well with the new design. I like the new direction for channels and think it makes the right trade offs but it requires major changes and a renewed commitment that don’t make sense for me at this point.

Real quickly:
- Automod will run until the changes go into effect.
- All remaining subscription time will be refunded.
- Automod is now open source with APIs to port moderation configurations.

I’ve worked on automod nearly everyday for the past 7 months. I’m proud of it and thankful to everyone who gave it a shot.
