change my mind!!! Elon's Starlink may help people stranded in the wilderness, but it certainly ruined something for people "stranded" in the desert: burning man. bring back the days when burners didn't have connectivity and no one could instantly share photos from the playa for clout and attention

Mmm I actually think an event that was phone-free in some way (maybe installing mass signal blockers) would be pretty cool! It wouldn’t necessarily be luddite (you’d need tech to block signals), but a gathering place for people who want to be truly disconnected. There’s something about being free from the screen that is rare and valuable these days.
