What's something you find confusing about Farcaster or Warpcast? No dumb questions—if it's confusing to you, likely confusing for others.

Why are channels on the protocol level and not the client level?

Makes it easy to exit a client and still keep the channel content and user list (to be clear, channel following not in the protocol yet, plans to do that in early 2024) good example of why this is powerful here https://twitter.com/dwr/status/1708197405588615226

Interesting — good point And I’m guessing that permissionless channel creation at the protocol level will then solve the problem of clients who want to allow for channels of their own to be started

Channel creation has been permissionless since we started. But de facto reality for most channel use cases is if doesn't appear in Warpcast, then effectively doesn't exist. Won't always be the case since we plan to support all valid channels (and hopefully because other clients grow, too!), but reality for now.
