One issue with nuclear is that no one wants the waste. Nevada will never let it be stored at Yucca Mountain.

Waste is stored onsite. It’s super space efficient. Yucca Mountain is a pork project. Should have never happened.

I respect you, but this is just stupid. Plutonium’s Half-life being 20k years something, Uranium 234 even 200k years+. Please don’t even start with Thorium. Storing this on ground will end in a disaster. Not now, not tomorrow, but all that will 100% find it’s way into the ecosystem at some point in time. 

Breeding reactors have a definite use case for war. But this is not what you mean in your context I would guess.
