Decentralizing channels work in progress

We're planning a 2 phase migration for decentralizing channels:

1. Clean up Warpcast-only channel features — next week or so
2. Decentralize into the protocol — 2-3 months

It won’t matter how FC is developed if  cool accounts that are only using humans to cast are censored by the FC algorithm.. FC needs to focus on how to retain human users. I f not we go back to X when frames launch there

There is no Farcaster algorithm. Just clients.

Regardless of the specifics of the tech.  I hope you understand FC is censoring my cast because I dont have powerbadge. You have to fix this

It's not censorship. You just don't get an extra boost.

Anyone who wants to follow you will see your casts.

That’s the point !!  Non power badge user not getting the boost is horrible!!  The rich keep getting g richer ..

I understand that’s.  Which is why there should be no powerbadge . Everyone deserves the same opportunity.  Isn’t that what decentralization is all about?

I agree we need to foght the bots. I’m a physical therapist. I’m not a tech guy. There has to be away where guys like me are not succumbed to t being labeled as spammy bots

not everyone, we get it; but i think yall tried to get a lil too fancy too quick introducing the power badges over the old active badges ; imo its only caused more harm than good - the rules are unclear and imprecise and ive seen many quality users turned off and (in effect) muted for not having one because of it

the algo is bad af imo, if japanese bots and inactive CT users keep gettin them, while top caster in top channels cant get one no matter what they do

and oneone cant tell me ppl arent already leaving beacuse of it

Algo can clearly be improved as I see plenty of real, engaging users not getting picked up by it 🤷‍♂️ I wonder if it shouldn't work the other way - everybody gets a power badge and loses it if they engage in spammy behaviour.

I think, just to be clear, just those two choices is a false dichotomy. It's simply a bad system. If you want badges so bad you should focus on how to hand them out specifically to LOW effort posters, not "high" ones, lol, because it's nebulous, gameable, and meaningless.

And you probably won't even see this.

Discouraging to be grinding so hard for this app, believing so much in it and not having one ☹️

Everyone who passes a basic spam check, or no-one. Or this fun and cleverly featured app will be just another celebrity influencer pyramid.
