Chasing users fleeing another platform is not a long-term valuable strategy. Effort is better spent trying to figure out the compelling reason for people to join the network independently. If you have that, then you can use sudden external entropy to help grow. But sign ups for the sake of sign ups don’t matter.

Obviously value your thoughts on this, I wonder however given the circumstances, if the opportunity to onboard a potential Brazilian twitter diaspora offers a valuable way to showcase potential of a sufficiently decentralized protocol. I was definitely one for sounding the call to action. Also fully understand your desire to avoid distraction.

From my understanding the shutting down of X in Brazil was tied to Elon not handing over user data related to the bolsanaro uprising… So in the short term it would provide a way for folks to stay engaged in a crypto affiliated social network, and allow teams who have built a big audience on x through cross posting- yup, firefly etc, to continue to connect with this user base. I had specifically suggested that Jeff (Jihoz) from sky mavis reach out to you because it might be a way for the Axie and Ronin community in Brazil to maintain connection. Perhaps I don’t fully understand the mechanics of Farcaster, yet in a similar scenario if a client was banned, would folks still be able to access the protocol, or would the nation state simply just outlaw any and all clients building atop the protocol? I was thinking the notion of conversation liquidity that @nounishprof and co have expressed as an important aspect of a thriving network, simply thinking if a critical mass found FC is might start the flywheel.

Why weren’t they using a crypto affiliated social network before?

Good question. While I can’t answer directly, I would presume because the network effects of twitter are so great, a result of the historical social graph. As for Ronin, I think their user base on SE Asia and LatAm are more YouTube/twitch aligned. My personal (Farcaster fan here) feeling is in part because so many of the Legos are still getting built. The frames > mini app pipeline is still so new. Example hard to imagine the Ronin community adopting FC with gusto without Ronin wallet compatibility in frames etc. And sometimes I see teams trying to protect their moat.
